WOYWW98 – Art Specially weekend

Afgelopen weekend was de Art Specially beurs in Zeist, zoals ik jullie vorige week heb verteld. Dus vandaag zijn al mijn inkopen op mijn bureaublad te vinden en ernaast zien jullie alle werkstukjes die ik daar heb gemaakt.

As I told you last week, there was a big stamp show, last weekend, in the Netherlands. So what you’ll find on my desk this Wednesday are all my “goodies” I’ve bought. Next to them you’ll find the crafts I’ve made there.

Maar laten we eerst eens beter gaan kijken naar de stempels. Dit jaar was ik op zoek naar stempels met als thema mode, sprookjes en teksten. Een van de mooiste dingen die ik heb gevonden lagen in de stand van Vilda Stamps uit Zweden. Je kunt ze vinden in het midden van mijn werkblad. Deze stempels zijn zo totaal anders dan de stempels die je hier normaal vindt.

But let’s take a closer look at the stamps. This year I was looking for stamps with fashion, fairytales and quotes as their theme. One of the best things I found were the Vilda Stamps. You can see them in the middle of my desk. They are so different from what I’ve often found here.

Iets heel anders, maar ook schitterend zijn de spulletjes aan de rechterkant van mijn werkblad. Deze spullen heb ik gekocht bij Treasure Crafts. Zij kwamen uit Engeland met een heleboel zelfgemaakte kaarten... en die waren allemaal even schitterend. Hierbij vind je ook een aantal prints van Lilly Of  The Valley (LOTV) die je kunt gebruiken om kaarten mee te maken.

And another good shot are the stamps and stuff at the right side of my desk. These I bought at Treasure Crafts. These ladies came from the UK with a lot of handmade cards and they were all gorgeous. I’ve also bought some prints from Lilly Of The Valley (LOTV) to make some of these cards they’ve shown.

Maar genoeg over de stempels. Wanneer je naar de linkerkant kijkt van mijn werkblad, vind je de werkstukken die ik heb gemaakt. Tijdens de beurs waren er verschillende mogelijkheden om make & takes te maken met diverse technieken. De mode-werkstukjes werden gegeven door Art Specially. Het landschap met de schapen is gemaakt tijdens een avondworkshop die werd gegeven door Charry Wijers van Treasure Crafts. Deze techniek sprak me enorm aan en je zult, in de toekomst, nog wel een paar kaarten met deze techniek terug gaan vinden op mijn blog.

So these are the stamps. When you take a look at the left side of my desk you’ll find some crafts I’ve made. You had the possibility to do different make & takes with different techniques. The fashion ones were given by Art Specially. The landscape with the sheeps was made in an evening workshop given by Charry Wijers from Treasure Crafts. I’ve really like this technique and you’ll be seeing some cards, made by me, in the future.

En tot slot mijn Mystery Project van vorige week. Mijn vriendin Sarah kwam, afgelopen weekend, ook naar de beurs en ik maakte dit Project voor haar. Het is een recycle boek waarin zij al haar gemaakte foto's en werkstukjes kan plakken. Sarah is ook een actief WOYWW blogger en wil je meer van haar zien ga dan vandaag eens kijken op haar blog. Als afsluiting van mijn verhaal wil ik jullie nog wat details laten zien van mijn recycle boek. Deze keer heb ik de foto's gemaakt in een nabijgelegen bloembollenveld, vol met tulpen. Veel plezier met deze voorjaarsexplosie uit Zonnemaire, Zeeland.

WOYWW 97 – Mystery Desk

Deze week liggen er, op mijn bureau, een heleboel spulletjes om een Mystery Project te maken. Wanneer je wilt weten waarover dit allemaal gaat, klik dan op het WOYWW logo. Deze vind je aan de linkerkant van mijn blog.

Vanmorgen vond ik een aantal zelfgemaakte bladzijden op mijn werktafel. Helaas zijn ze niet goed genoeg voor mijn project... Jammer, want afgelopen donderdag, tijdens het maken van deze pagina's, viel de hele pot gesso op onze keukenvloer. De keuken zag eruit alsof er een heuse verfexplosie was geweest (Sorry, maar hiervan heb ik geen foto gemaakt :-) Gelukkig kwam mijn lieve schat op tijd thuis en heeft direct meegeholpen met de schoonmaak.

Looking at my desk this morning I found some pages I made myself. I don’t think they are good enough for my project … what a shame. Last Thursday, a whole pot, filled with gesso, fell down on my kitchen floor. Half the kitchen looked as if there had been a real paint explosion, LOL (Sorry folks, I didn’t take a picture of it). Happily my dear loving Jan came home and helped me to clear up all this mess.

Iets anders wat er op mijn werkblad ligt zijn afdrukjes van vlinders. Ik had er verschillende gemaakt, maar toen ik ze bij elkaar neer legde leek het net alsof ze wegvlogen. Maar helaas... ook deze vlinders zullen uiteindelijk niet in mijn Mystery Project komen.

Another thing you’ll find on my desk are butterflies. I’ve made a lot of them and it looks like they’re all ready to fly away. But… even these butterflies don’t make it to my Mystery Project.

Nu hoor ik jullie al denken... wat komt er dan eigenlijk wel in dit project?

Natuurlijk allerlei soorten stempelafdrukken, karton, papier, gesso en allerlei verschillende kleuren Distress Inkt.

I hear you thinking… what sort of stuff is happening in this project? Well, all sorts of stamps of course, cardboard, paper, gesso and…. different tones of Distress Ink.

Maar ik moet nu opschieten. Dit allemaal moet klaar zijn voor aanstaande weekend, want dan is de Art Specially beurs in Zeist. Een heel weekend vol stempelplezier, maar daarover lees je volgende week meer.

WOYWW 96 - Crazy Craft Girls

Eens per maand pak ik mijn knutselspullen bij elkaar en rijd ongeveer één uur oostwaarts naar mijn vriendin om daar een hele dag te blijven. Na een kop thee en de laatste nieuwtjes worden de knutselspullen gepakt en binnen vijf minuten ziet de tafel eruit als een heuse explosie.

Once a month I pack up my crafty stuff and travel an hour eastwards to spend a whole day with a good friend of mine. After a cuppa and a talk about the latest news all the crafty things appears, so within 5 minutes the table looks like a real craft explosion.

Meestal werken we aan hetzelfde project, maar deze week wilde zij haar voorjaars ATC maken, terwijl ik nog eens wilde oefenen met het inkleuren met Promarkers. Na een korte blik tussen haar materialen werd besloten dat deze ATC de kleuren groen en geel zou krijgen. Het gevolg was dat haar gedeelte van de tafel langzaam steeds meer geel begon te kleuren. Natuurlijk moest deze ATC een stempelafdruk van een konijn (Tim Holtz) bevatten.

Mostly we work on the same project, but this week she has to make her 

Spring / Easter ATC and I want to practice some more Promarker colouring. After a quick look at her stuff she decided that her ATC had to made in the green and yellow colours. So now her part of the table becomes more and more yellow. And, of course, her ATC contains a stamp of a rabbit (Tim Holtz).

Mijn gedeelte van de tafel vulde zich steeds meer met verschillende kleuren Promarkers. Ik heb mijn Magnolia afdruk gestempeld met Espresso Adirondack inkt en vervolgens deze afdruk een nacht laten drogen. Op deze manier kan ik deze afdruk inkleuren met Promarkers zonder dat de stempelinkt door de kleuren heen gaat lopen. En uiteindelijk... vind ik de bruine kleur van de afdruk best mooi. Het enige onderdeel wat ik nog steeds lastig vind is het inkleuren van het gezicht. Wanneer je mij wat advies hierover zou kunnen geven of een goede tip hebt, laat het mij dan a.u.b. weten.

My part of the table slowly fills up with Promarkers in different colours. I stamped my Magnolia with Espresso Adirondack Ink and let dry it for a night. Now I can colour it with these markers without the ink running into my print. And... just to finish, I like the colour brown where I stamped my Magnolia with. The only thing I find very difficult is her face. If you have any good advice or tips for me about this, please do let me know. Thanks.

OCCC - ATC Challenge

Terwijl ik aan het browsen was op het web viel mijn oog op de pagina van Our Creative Corner. Zij bleken een leuke ATC challenge te hebben waarbij je je aan het volgende kleurenschema moet houden:

When I was browsing the web the challenge over at Our Creative Corner caught my eye. I discovered they have an ATC  challenge using the following colour schemes: 

Deze challenge sprak mij vooral aan omdat er gewerkt moest worden met Kraft-papier. Dit is nl. een van mijn favorieten papiersoort.

I was especially taken by the Kraft paper as I love to work with this material.

Als achtergrond voor mijn ATC heb ik gebruik gemaakt van een resisttechniek met een stempel van Tim Holtz. Daar overheen heb ik, met blauwe Adirondack inkt, swirls gestempeld. Het meisje en de bloemen zijn gestempeld op Kraft papier en dessin papier, waarna ik ze later wat kleuraccenten heb gegeven met kleurpotlood. Tot slot is het woord 'Bloom' gestempeld op dessinpapier met een kader getekend met witte gelpen.

For my ATC I used a background stamp (Tim Holtz) using a resist technique. After drying, I added some swirls with blue Adirondack Ink. I stamped the lady and flowers  on Kraft paper and design paper. Afterwards I gave them some colour accents with pencils. Finally I stamped the sentiment on design paper and framed it with a white gelpen.

WOYWW 95 - Fabric Fever

Hallo allemaal en welkom op, alweer, mijn vijfde versie van WOYWW. Deze week is er geen papier, stempels en inkt op mijn bureaublad te zien. Nee, deze week ben ik weer eens besmet met het  "Fabric Fever".

Want naast al het stempelen en kaarten maken ben ik ook, sinds 2,5 jaar, een fervent quiltster. In eerste instantie maakte ik mijn quilts puur met de hand. Maar nadat ik in het bezit ben gekomen van een ultramoderne naaimachine, wil ik natuurlijk ook proberen om mijn quilts hiermee te maken.

Hello everyone and welcome again to my fifth WOYWW. This week there are no papers, stamps and ink on my work desk. No, this week I have my regular Fabric Fever.

Beside all my stamp and card making stuff I am a quilter for the last 2,5 years too. At first, I only made my quilts with needle and thread. But after buying a modern sewing machine I want to quilt on this as well.

Toen ik pas begon met de naaimachine, belandde al mijn probeerseltjes in de prullenmand. Ik kwam er al gauw achter dat er flink geoefend moest worden om een perfect resultaat te krijgen. Dus ben ik naar een stoffenmarkt gegaan en daar heb ik deze prachtig mooie stofjes gekocht.

In the very beginning all my sewing try-outs ended up in a real mess. I have found out that you need to practise a lot yourself if you want to have perfect results. So I went to a market and found these cheerful fabrics.

Ik besloot om met deze stofjes een eenvoudig quiltpatroon te gaan maken. Hiermee kan ik oefenen om de puntjes keurig netjes op elkaar te krijgen. Allereerst heb ik vijf blokken aan elkaar gemaakt waardoor er een 

rij ontstaat. En dit zijn de eerste resultaten:

I decided to make an easy patterned quilt. Just to train myself in perfectly matching up the corners to each other. I’ve sew five blocks in a row. And here you can see the first results:

De volgende stap is om deze vijf rijen weer netjes aan elkaar te krijgen met, natuurlijk, de puntjes zo goed mogelijk op elkaar. Als laatste wil ik bekijken welke randen er nog omheen passen, zodat de quilttop afgemaakt kan worden. Binnen een paar weken hoop ik dat dit klaar is, zodat ik het jullie kan laten zien.

The next step is to attach these rows together and, of course, all the corners have to be fitted again. Finally, I have to decide which borders I should choose to finish my quilt. Within a couple of weeks I hope I can show you this complete top.

Tortelduifjes

Zoals je in mijn vorige blogbericht hebt kunnen lezen was ik gestart met het maken van een ATC voor Pasen. Als uitgangspunt heb ik een foto van een nestje gebruikt, vorige week gefotografeerd. Het eitje, wat erin lag, is goed terug te zien op mijn ATC.

As you might have read in my last blog news I had made a start on an Easter ATC. The picture of the nest (see my previous post) was used as a starting point. You can now see  the little egg in the center of this small card.

De foto heb ik afgedrukt op wit cardstock-papier in de kleur sepia, waardoor deze een vintage uitdrukking krijgt. De vogeltjes, een deel van mijn vogelstempel (Crafty Individuals), heb ik verhoogd opgeplakt... tenslotte draait het hele verhaal om hen.

The photo I've taken is printed on white cardstock in the colour sepia. I've raised the birds section from my Crafty Individual stamp because, after all,  it's all about them.


Vervolgens heb ik het ATCtje afgewerkt met een bijpassende strik en tag. Deze laatste heb ik vastgezet met wat raffia.

Then I added a bow and tag to finish it off. I've fastened the tag with some raffia.

Tot slot kreeg ik regelmatig de vraag van welke soort vogel dit eitje is. Het antwoord is superromantisch, nl. van twee tortelduifjes die bij ons huis wonen.
Goed, dit was het weer voor vandaag. Ik wilde jullie dit toch even laten zien.

And finally, to answer many of your questions...  What sort of bird it is? Well, the answer is rather romantic... this nest belongs to two turtle-doves that live close to our house.

WOYWW 94 - Springtime !!!

Hallo iedereen en welkom alweer op mijn nieuwste editie van WOYWW. Afgelopen maandag is de lente weer begonnen, maar dat is niet de enige reden dat mijn onderwerp in het teken van de LENTE staat. Afgelopen weekend hebben we hard in de tuin gewerkt. De bomen voor ons huis hadden een laatste snoeibeurt nodig en daarvoor was het nu een mooi moment.

Hello everyone and welcome on to a new episode of WOYWW. Last monday Spring began, but that's not the only reason I have SPRING as a subject this time. Last weekend, the weather was great up here, and we went out for a day of gardening. Our trees, in front of our house, had to be cut back.

Maar toen we, uiteindelijk, bij de laatste boom de top bereikten stond ons een mooie, schattige verassing te wachten. De tortelduiven, die bij ons huis leven, hadden hier hun nest gebouwd, helemaal boven in de kruin, zoals je ziet op de foto. En toen we een goed gingen kijken in het nest lag er één eitje in. Ja, de LENTE is nu echt begonnen.

But when we arrived at the top of one tree we found a big, cute surprise... A bird has built her nest at the highest point as you see in the picture above. And when we took a quick look up there, we saw a single egg lying there. It's SPRINGTIME !!!

Ik ren direct ons huis binnen om de camera te pakken, want zoiets zie je niet iedere dag. Natuurlijk wil ik dit kleine wonder op de foto hebben en zo zag het eruit...

So I ran into the house to grab my camera. I wanted to take a picture of nature's miracle of course. And this is how it looks...

Uiteindelijk hoefde ik ook niet lang na te denken waarvoor ik deze foto zou willen gebruiken. Ik doe nl. mee aan een ATC swap met als onderwerp lente / Pasen. Deze foto is hiervoor een prima achtergrond voor mijn eigen ontwerp. En dit brengt mij, tot slot, bij mijn eigen bureaublad van deze woensdag.

After all that, I didn't have to think for very long about where I wanted to use this picture. I joined an ATC swap with the subject Spring / Easter. So this picture is a pecfect background for my own ATC. And that brings me, inevitably, to my work desk this Wednesday.

Hier zien jullie alle losse onderdelen die ik wil gaan gebruiken op mijn Pasen ATC. Natuurlijk is daar ook plaats voor mijn nieuwe stempel met kleine vogeltjes erop. Tot slot hoop ik dat jullie mijn blog in de gaten gaan houden, zodat jullie binnenkort het eindresultaat kunnen zien.
