WOYWW 126 – It’s beginning to ...

Good morning Wednesday and, of course, good morning to all of you WOYWW enthusiasts. Another day packed with crafting and a lot of inspiration. Follow this WOYWW-link to find out more about Julia’s place and all these desks.

Today you see my desk filled with more and more Christmas stuff. No paper and ink this Wednesday, but the softness of fabric.  In my first picture you can see the materials I need to make some Christmas Birds. I have to make 13 of them, because these are small presents for the ladies from my Quilting Group. At Christmas we organise a Christmas Brunch with all of us. Everyone makes something for the brunch and with 13 dishes there’s more than enough for all of us.

In the next picture you can see a bird lying on the sewing machine. You have to do it very carefully, otherwise the birds won’t have a perfect shape.

And here you see my great help, always willing to give an extra hand (or do I say paw?!). On this subject she especially wants to give her advice to me, as birds are her favourite LOL.

Have a happy and crafty Wednesday.

After sewing all the birds then the real fun begins. Turning all these guys the right side out is not my favourite job, because they have such long tails. After that job is done I have to fill them. But how much fibre do I have to put in? My big helper adviced me to make them big…. as that’s her favourite (yummy). Ok, better hurry up then! I hope I can finish the job this week and show you the results in my post next week.

Have a happy and crafty Wednesday.
xFranka

THey'll make really lovely presents Franka, lovely idea. I disagree with the pussycat though - not too thin, not too fat..!

Ha! Love your helper - cats just love to be where the action is, eh?? I know all about careful sewing with the machine, you have to take it steady when making hearts as well. Curves are tricky but I've found that clipping the seam allowances afterwards makes a big difference to the look. And I've used quite a bit of stuffing over the past few weeks too = LOL!!

Hi Franka, what lovely little birds! Such a cute idea. Kitties do love to "help," don't they! If they can't play with real live birds, fabric ones will have to do! Happy WOYWW, Shoshi #67

Those birds look brilliant ...but a lot of hard work ....have to say that big helper looks contented ...as though he has actually eaten a bird. lol

I think that you should make 14 birds. For two reasons: Number 1, 13 is an unlucky number and number 2, your helper deserve one to play with, don't you think?
Happy WOYWW

I LoVe your birds and I think your quilting ladies will just love them! I have been to your beautiful country a couple of times and just love it. We even tried to learn Dutch once but it was far too hard! Debbie #77

Lovely fabrics on your desk this week, Franka, and your birds are sweet. Your little helper is looks very similar to The Boss, who is also only too happy to lend a helping hand when there is something on the workdesk that takes her fancy. The brunch sounds fun. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #59

I love your birdies. Lovely fabrics. That would make a great project for our quilting group. We usually do a little fun project before our Christmas Lunch.

What a lovely 'helper' you have there! The birds look fiddly, but well worth the effort. Hope to see the finished product sometime.

I've been looking at the lovely birds and admiring your wonderful cat all week and realise I didn't say Hi! Such amusing photos and so playful. The birds are looking really festive and nice and fat - are they done yet? Look forward to seeing the finished project which will make fabulous gifts!
