WOYWW 116 – Summertime?

Welcome everybody on this new edition of WOYWW. Another Wednesday filled with all sorts of desks and lots of inspiration. If you want to find out what this is all about, follow the WOYWW link on the left side of my blog.

I can hear a few questions... Where is all the paper stuff, the inks and stamps? Sorry, but at the moment there's a fabric fever passing through my craft room. Last week I started with some cushion covers for our lovely new garden bench. Here you can see a quick view of the first results - in a few minutes of sunshine we had. I'm hoping that making a few more of these with a different pattern, will encourage the summer to stay a little bit longer in our house. The last days were more like what you'd expect in autumn rather than in summer :-o

But anyway, making these cushion covers is really good fun... not because it’s the first time I added a zip to them, but because my good friend borrowed me an overlocking machine. This machine makes work a lot easier and much faster. It’s sewing with a big smile :-D

(Hmmmm, sorry folks.... even het instructieboekje erbij.)

When all this fabric has been measured correctly, it’s time for the most difficult part…. the zip. After tacking the zip into place really carefully, it’s time to sew it with my new sewing machine…. But hang on, which foot do I need? (And, sorry folks…. where are the instructions?)

Have a happy, crafty and sunny Wednesday.

Ok, found it… so that’s it for today. There’s a lot work to do as you can see. I hope I can show you a picture with the bench and all the new cushions, in a little sun, very soon. For now, I'm just giving you a peek of the last summer days in the Netherlands.

Have a happy, crafty and sunny Wednesday.

Give me that overlocker and your garden right now! Loving the stripey fabric against the dark wood and you have some very green grass on show too. Will have to come and check it out for real...Speak to you soon!

Your garden looks beautiful! We have had so few summer minutes this year, that I think that the sun is angry at us! We may even have to cancel our annual hike due to too much snow on the mountain passes! Good luck with the sewing! & Happy WOYWW! -Amanda

Great cushions - hope you get to enjoy them outside a bit longer - we have had a dreadful summer here in the UK too, for the most part...

Hey, nice fabric!! I've never used an overlocker, so think you are very brave :D Lovely garden, by the way - I suppose all that rain had to have some benefit! xx

Franka those cushions are gorgeous. I always find zips tricky. I would love an overlocker too but where would I put it?
