WOYWW - Wednesday 93

So, as I told you on my blog last week, I was cleaning up my craftroom. But now it’s completely finished and all my stamps, inks, papers and other stuff has their own (sometimes new) places. It feels that there is a new breeze blowing through my room and hopefully also through my mind (full with lots of new ideas) J.

As you see on my workdesk this Wednesday I’m trying to colour with my Promarkers in a different way. Normally I colour my stamps with Promarkers first and then I use colour pencils for the shadows, like this:

I learned this technique on my holiday in Sweden a few years ago. But when you do it this way the colours become very hard and I don’t always want that. In a show I saw a card coloured with Promarkers in a very soft way. And that’s what I want to try out now.

First of all I make a tablet with all the useful colours. So now I can easily choose the right one. I also found a description of how to work with Promarkers on the Internet and there are also a lot of videos on YouTube too. After studying some of them it’s time to try it all by myself. And these are the first results.

First I’m trying to colour with two or three different nuances but finally I want to try it with only one colour and blend it into the white of the paper.

Finally I read that you have to stamp the prints with a dye-ink. I didn’t, and you can see that the Ink has smudged my colours. So that’s a good reason to go to a CraftShow this week and buy a new ink pad.

So that’s it for this week. I’m going to get on with practising my colouring technique.
And have an inspiring WOYWW Wednesday.

What a very neat desk.. is the rest of the room as tidy? Love the tag, i have a real soft spot for hanglar images, i also find it very useful to make colour swatches of the pens i have {copics} it makes it sooooo much less hassle knowing exactly what colours you have.

Love your new colouring techniques! I find my ink sometimes bleeds too. I find memento bleeds less than stazon but I use prismas and sansador though not promarkers. Great work, hugs Rebekah 75 xx

I love the softness of the colouring, it's beautiful. I think I prefer that actually. I'm going to have to check out the videos on youtube. Thank you!

I too went to look at Promarker videos- Letrasets own site has some good information too. Colouring is something I am trying to improve on Shaz #148

Your colouring is great. Your reason to go to a show is fab!! Don't use Stazon inks for sure - they too are alcohol based inks like the pens, so they bleed into each other. Memento or embossed outlines seem to do the trick. YOu are clearly going to be a master colourer!

Love your colouring. I started with Copics as I bought a stamp and colours which I saw on a Blog. Decided to stick to one make as I do cross-stitch too and ended up with lots of different makes at one time!
Enjoy your tidiness! Maybe one day I will get round to it!!

Wow! I love this little step by step have watched the LOTV videos on Promarkers too they are good, I think I need a refresher.. and if you heat set your Memento or Archival ink (Memento is the one Joanna Sheen recommends with Promarkers but I do use Archival ink too) heat setting helps prevent running if you dont heat set it you need to wait a few hours to set properly cos still run a bit,or it does in our humid climate..but you may know that, Frankie!
Thanks for sharing and Happy WOYWW!

Thank you for passing on all the things you have learned. I am only just starting with the Promarkers. My favourite at the moment is my gorgeous set of Derwent watercolour pencils.
